Day to Day at Greenbank
The Curriculum
Each child is recognised as an individual and our experienced staff seek to help each child to grow and develop to their full potential. We aim to provide a carefully arranged environment, to which children look forward to coming and build on their own experiences.
The play activities we provide are aimed at the following areas of children's development and learning identified in the early level of the Curriculum for Excellence:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Literacy and English
- Mathematics
- Sience
- Social Studies
- Expressive Arts
- Technologies
- Religious and Moral Education
The Curriculum for Excellence’s underpinning values are wisdom, justice, compassion and integrity with the child at the centre of learning.
The purpose of the curriculum is to enable the child to develop the ‘four capacities’.
To enable all children to become…
Successful Learners
Confident Individuals
Responsible Citizens
Effective Contributors
The curriculum is inclusive and a stimulus for personal achievement. By providing enjoyment, depth and challenge through activities children experience a broadening of their world and encouragement towards informed and responsible citizenship.
The experiences and outcomes in the range of curriculum areas build in relevant attributes and capabilities which support the development of the four capacities.
For further information about the curriculum please feel free to speak to a key worker, see our own curriculum policies or click here for more information:

Staff will be glad to talk to you about what your child is learning in the centre, both informally and formally. We recognise the value of working with you to contribute to all that you are already doing to give your child the best possible start in life.
